Ernest Briggs IV
BEUT Coordinator/Pre-service Induction
Ernest is an accomplished young professional and has dedicated his educational career to working within the Twin Cities area and working with students and teachers of color.
Prior to joining Hamline University’s Center for Excellence in Urban Teaching, Ernest worked in Minneapolis Public Schools in the office of Indian Education, working in many capacities as a licensed educator, program coordinator, community organizer, grant/new funding coordinator and in public relations.
Ernest comes with experience not only working with urban learners and students of color as an educator, but also as a student of color. Ernest grew up in north Minneapolis and attended Minneapolis Public Schools. Ernest has the experiences, methods, strategies, plans, and skills he has acquired over a very young educational career to help him achieve his educational career goal of closing the educational achievement gap. Ernest is also a former Urban Education Summer Scholar (2006).
Ernest holds a Bachelor of Arts in History, Secondary Education and Social studies from the University of St. Thomas; as well as a Minnesota teaching license in 5-12th grade social studies.
